I second Jerry’s words: These chips are mostly standard DDR chips that have been tested and rated to be capable of operation at higher clock rates by the manufacturer. So in regards to the question as to where the bug originates: I can confirm that indeed the intel G driver has been blacklisted again: Can this be l830mg in the latest version of Intrepid? Such chips draw significantly more power than slower-clocked chips, but usually offered little or no improvement in real-world performance.
